Phillip Gilbert is a graduate of Hull University and The Royal College of Music. He began his career with Welsh National Opera and worked as coach, chorus master and conductor at the Wexford, Buxton and Lausanne festivals as well as at Zurich Opera. After several years at Dublin Opera as chorus master and assistant to maestro, Giovanni Veneri, and as guest conductor of the RTE Chamber Choir, he took up an Assistantship with James Lockart at the Royal College of Music Opera School. For a number of years he was Chorus Master of the Leicester Philharmonic Choir, and Musical Director of Cantamici.

Phillip is currently a mentor in vocal studies with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He has an established reputation as a choir trainer and voice specialist, coaching and accompanying singers from all over the country.
